We travel 20 kilometers along the Ocean beach to the Little Sandhills. On the way me pass numerous middens . The middens are shell scatters left by the Nughi people. We also see Rous battery built in World War II.
Sand toboganning is a highlight of the trip, but requires dry sand. The bus says with us at camp, so if rain or windy change is forecast we can go to the sandhills at sunrise, or reshedule to another day to ensure students can toboggann. As the Sandhills are so far along the beach we need a lowish tide for driving the bus along the beach.
